About this course and about you

This activity will provide you with some information about the course and get to know a little bit of information about you.

Turn In: You will turn in a word processing document answering the questions at the end of this activity.

The intent of this course is to help you learn a little bit more about technology, help you determine if some of the things in the course are of interest to you, share some resources you can use to learn more about the topics in the course, and provide you with experiences that you can use to help others.

Your success in this course depends on you. Are you willing to put in the work needed to learn the information in the course and how you might use it beyond the course?

You will get out of the course what you put into it. The activities in the course are designed to demonstrate you understand the information and can do those tasks. If you want to get really good at certain topics, you will want to spend more time and effort. When possible, extras, challenges, and optional items will be put in the course and individual activities for those interested. The additional items are marked as such and they are not required. Decide which of those things you want to pursue more and which of those things you do not want to pursue more.

Thomas Edison gave us two quotes ...

I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work.

Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.

Some of the things we do in the course will be easy for you and some you may have to work to accomplish. For the more difficult items, try lots of different things. Ask other people to help you look at the problem with a fresh set of eyes. Re-read or re-watch the course materials to see if something in there helps you out. Search on the Internet for information about the item you are working on. If you are still having difficulty after those things, ask your instructor. Your instructor is available to assist you but you will learn more if you try to do as much as you can on your own or using other resources.

Now that you know a little bit about the course, it is your turn to share a little bit about you.

1. Hobbies (what do you do in your free time)

2. Why take this course?

3. A few things you want to learn or get out of this course?

4. What careers or jobs are you considering doing after school?

Thank you and enjoy the course.
